Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Education Institutions in India
India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) has approved regulations that will allow the establishment and operation of foreign university branch campuses in India. These regulations implement the Indian Government’s commitment under the National Education Policy 2020 to internationalise India’s higher education sector. The Regulations were published in UGC’s website on 8 November 2023.

The department is an agency subject to the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act) and is required to comply with the Information Publication Scheme (IPS) requirements. This Information Publication Scheme Agency Plan (Agency Plan) describes how the department proposes to do this, as required by subsection 8(1) of the FOI Act.
Department of Education Reconciliation Action Plan
The Reconciliation Action Plan August 2023-25 promotes the department’s vision for a reconciled Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and heritages are valued and accepted as a foundation for unity, equality, and enduring positive change.
We will implement our Innovate RAP over the next two years to deliver on our commitments. Education will play a key role as we establish a shared understanding and commitment to implementing the plan.
