The Australian Government response to the Senate Education and Employment References Committee (the Committee) inquiry and report on ‘The national trend of school refusal and related matters’ is now available.

The response to the Committee’s recommendations has been coordinated by the Department of Education, in consultation with Government agencies. The Government recognises that working with states and territories and the non-government education sector is key to implementing effective and holistic policy improvements that respond to the issue of school refusal. The Government acknowledges work is continuing across all sectors to address school refusal, as noted in the Committee’s report.
