An increase in wages needs to be seriously considered especially to retain teachers.
After 9 years of progression wages are capped and the only way for experienced teachers to earn more is to teach less and to go into leadership positions.
Teachers also need to have access to more flexibility in terms of working hours to be in line with other professions in the post covid work era. This could mean working 4 days out of 5 during the week to ensure better work life balance.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Teachers teach too many face to face hours. Preparing a quality lesson is time consuming and teachers need time to plan, follow up and reflect.
Activities such as yard duties add to a teacher's workload and areva poor use of a teacher's skills.
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs
How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?
