Raising ECT wage to meet that of teachers, if we chose to work in early childhood, the most critical stage of child development, we should be met with valued pay and recognition. There should also be funding and HECS support for us in regional and remote areas to attract teachers.

Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Strongly agree

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

We absolutely need to support educating our teachers, restructuring the testing from pass/fail to reduce the pressure and provide additional support. Ensuring our ECTs are eligible for registration and attract higher value in the community

Maximising the time to teach

The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

Ensuring ECTs can access just as much professional development and support to allow time away to access this without having to worry about staffing replacement by having additional staff

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

Strongly agree

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

- opportunities for connections, mentoring and communities of teachers that support and strengthen teachers in their professionalism are critical for growth and sustainability of the profession.

- National teacher registration to enable all Early Childhood Teachers to be registered - we really need to boost the value of teachers in the community and educate the community on ECTs and their value and status as teachers - this will help somewhat with retention
- better support and mentoring during studies - more hands on opportunities
