I am a Technology teacher and work in Nth Qld. I have also worked in the Brisbane Metropolitan areas.

It's the run down facilities in the public are that don't attract staff. They can compete with the private area. The Australian curriculum requires students to look at emerging technologies yet we can't afford it.

The major thing is the student to teacher ratio. 1:28 is not a suitable ratio for the risk setting. This needs to be changed and written into the EBA.

Changing these conditions would make it more suitable and encouraging for teachers to come into the area.
