Increase the pay for graduate teachers and the overall pay. It is more appealing to join the public service and be paid well than be a teacher.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Provide students with paid Learning Support Assistant roles as part of their degree. Schools are desperate for good learning support assistants and the pre-service teachers gain valuable skills and experience.

Employ more Learning Support Assistants to help with admin and some classroom teaching to free up teachers to teach and be more energised to give the best they can to the students. This is especially required in K-2 or classes with high learning needs.
