Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.
Somewhat agree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
I think that teachers need to be better paid. All my friends who are 4 year trained professionals earn easily double what I earn! They also work less hours. It’s a simple way to attract more people to the profession, but more importantly, will elevate it far quicker and more effectively than what you currently have listed.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

I think universities and schools need to work together more to work out what we teach our preservice teachers. I am a primary drama specialist (trained as a high school drama teacher). There is enormous demand for Arts practitioners in primary, but most arts teachers have haphazard training or none at all. PD for this area is woeful (with exception of classroom music). The arts has been in primary national curriculum for some years now, but proper university training courses have been non- existent or tokenistic. University training needs to catch up!
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
Somewhat disagree

Last I checked we had to pay for HALT accreditation. This is ridiculous. Queensland needs to sort process out so it’s easier to apply.
