Elevating the profession

Somewhat disagree

I'm really sceptical about all these extra awards. Why? Sure, that will recognise the teachers we have, but it isn't necessarily going to retain teachers on the off chance they may receive an award.
Spending so much money on a public awareness raising campaign isn't going to make much of a difference when you still have media and politicians bagging teachers.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Having lantite earlier in teaching degrees is a good idea so long as pre service teachers can then access additional support
Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

This draft doesn't explicitly say what will happen. It's all very well to say that money will be provided to look into it but what exactly is going to happen and how is this going to be implemented. There is also a shortage of university tutors and they aren't exactly being treated fairly either.
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

We need to decide what teachers are actually responsible for. How many times is there an issue in society, e.g. just listening to the radio this morning and they were discussing the issue of vaping. All of a sudden, now teachers are responsible for providing education to students about this issue. Why does it always fall on teachers? This adds to our workload. How is this draft going to address that?
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

Anything that streamlines this process is a good thing
