Why not examine the amount of taxpayers' money given to non government schools throughout the world and use the averaged findings as a benchmark and "adjust" the amount of Australian taxpayers' contributions (state and national) accordingly and use the hundreds of millions saved to increase funding for the resources needed by public schools? This simple and objectively determined initiative would be fair and revenue neutral. It can be phased in over, say, five years.
