Elevating the profession

The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

Somewhat disagree

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

The quality of teaching is not always reflected in the student outcomes. Some areas are more affluent and have greater resources, parental support and supported students, making it seem those teachers are more effective and efficient. This is simply not the case.

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Tertiary trained teachers need more practical opportunities and knowledge. There is too much theoretical information that is not useful in the real-world of teaching.

Maximising the time to teach

The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

What we need as teachers to reduce our workload is...
an overhauled curriculum, where things that are no longer relevant are removed. So many things have been added, but nothing was taken away, and they wonder why we are overloaded!
Why is there such a heavy focus on narrative writing?!?! How is this helpful for future jobs?
Smaller classes, more teachers!
Two teachers per class AT THE SAME TIME! Behaviour management would be a walk in the park, and the workload halved!
Stop delegating admin jobs to us!
Enforce the rules! We should NOT be looking for our own relief, yet we still are. We should NOT be writing relief notes when sick, yet we still are.
We need more DOTT and collaborative time.
We need less students per class.
We need a simpler curriculum.
We need less parental input to what we do! We studied at university and have the experience in how children learn, not them!

Better understanding future teacher workforce needs

How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?

Not effective at all

How about you remove the HECS debt on all teaching degrees????

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

Somewhat agree
