The first action, the national campaign, should also include teachers of the arts, humanities, social sciences & languages as their contributions help build up and strengthen our culture, national identity and the strength of our democracy; they should not be ignored as part of this campaign.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Provide universities funding for scholarships in ITE programs that are merit based. A good teacher might not be given the opportunity to succeed until they have entered university.

There should be a larger emphasis on quality input from teachers around workload reduction. A lot of the work feels like it is coming from the top down.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

In lieu of the 10k per year for high achieving ITE candidates; provide teachers who become a HALT a HECS debt repayment as an incentive.
Consider funding for HALT to attain research based postgraduate qualifications within education to build up expertise and knowledge within the education field as a whole.
