Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.
Somewhat agree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
I would like to see some effort put into supporting staff with parents/carers who are demanding or aggressive. I think we need stronger rules on how parents/carers interact with teaching staff to elevate the profession. Right now, we are often seen as people who can be abused and that's one of the main reasons why so many staff are leaving.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Teaching supply can be increased by addressing the harassment teaching staff face from parents/carers, as well as correctly implementing strategies to reduce the overwhelming workload.
Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

I agree that literacy and numeracy assessment is necessary. I have supported students in their fourth year of university who cannot spell simple words. I also believe that there should be more placement time for students in classrooms, as university didn't teach me half as much as what I learnt on the job.
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

I think the curriculum needs reducing even further to hone in on the most important content to teach, getting rid of the additional stuff that simply serves as a workload issue and takes time away from key concepts.
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs
How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
