Difficult to be “freed up” to collaborate and focus on teaching when you’re hit with relief lessons to cover and the administration work needed to be done when following up behavioural incidents.

We need literacy specialists and schools MUST view literacy as a priority rather than STEM and STEAM - students still need to be able to read to do these subjects!

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

All “Level 3 HOLAs” should be made to go through the Level 3 Classroom Teacher process, and/or attain Senior Teacher status at the very least, before being appointed a HOLA role. In my context the HOLAS are useless and inexperienced.
