Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
As a highly educated teacher (PhD) working in public education i believe there needs to be targeted media campaigns to address the negative attitudes students/parents/carers often have toward teaching staff. I am subjected to abuse from students and parents on a regular basis for following up on behaviour. I often feel like the students and carers would prefer that i keep their child happy by letting them do what they want instead of educating their child. You go to a hospital and there are clear messages that abuse will not be tolerated and a clear process for raising complaints. This is absent in many schools.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Survey, survey, survey. Ask the teachers why they left and what can be done to get them to return to the profession.
More students in ITE is great, but who will train them? I am in a metro school and I often take 3-4 students per year. This is alot of work with very little pay. Universities are often struggling to find suitable schools.
Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Truma training needs to be included. Teachers are frequently subject to violence/abuse/harassment. It is important that we are upfront about this and give teachers the tools to deal with these potential stressors/truama on a personal level before it happens.
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

I love the idea of a full set of resources, this would save alot of planning time and teachers would need to just modify for the needs of their students
More access to ICT/devices for students in public schools could greatly reduce the workload for teachers.
Most of my DOTT time is spent following up on student behaviour. More funding in schools either have more staff assisting with this role or having more allocated DOTT for behaviour management so we can actually plan lessons
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs
How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?
Slightly effective
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
We need more time! We need more psychological assistance for staff and students.
Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
