Reducing workload needs to be the priority. So much time is spent on paperwork. Scanning, uploading document, records of contact for every conversation. Employ more administration staff to ease this burden. I have to scan and upload every assessment item for each student. I have to scan and upload every receipt. The list goes on. During school holidays I am told I am not allowed on site as the cleaners are working. This is the only time I can do a lot of classroom organisation/office work. It feels so devaluing. I'm sure we are all professionals and I could work in the office and not get in there way.
Most of my time is spent doing pointless paperwork logging incidents, conversations. I have no time to plan quality lessons anymore. Leadership are so focussed on data we spend all our time assessing and never get time to teach.
I have been teaching for 16years and it is soul destroying. I used to spend most of my time planning and teaching now it is assessing and box ticking. No time to spend building relationships with students which leads to poor behaviour.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.
