The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

I believe that teachers are not staying in the field due to the increase in children requiring individualised learning plans. I do not see that action plan as addressing these issues.

Teachers consistenly leave early education to go to primary schools due to the shorter working hours and increased holiday leave - maybe transferring these incentives to early education would see teachers remain in early learning centres.

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
