In 2022, the department engaged the Murdoch Children Research Institute (MCRI) to examine existing measures of child vulnerability and disadvantage. The focus was on:
- child-based measures
- options for improving our early childhood education collections.
This report identifies options for feasible child-centred indicators of disadvantage. It was prepared for us by the Centre for Community Child Health. The work was completed in partnership with the University of Melbourne.
Measuring vulnerability and disadvantage in early childhood data collections (phase 2)
This report builds on the findings of the first report below. It seeks to address questions raised from the first report to further understand the associations between key child and area level measures of disadvantage.
