Changes to provider approval process

We’ve made it simpler to apply to become an early childhood education and care provider.

As of 1 July 2023, prospective providers can apply for approval from the Australian Government and state and territory governments in one place – the National Quality Agenda IT System (NQA ITS).

Providers need two approvals to operate an early childhood education and care service that offers CCS. Previously, prospective providers had to prepare and submit each application via separate platforms.

The change also applies to existing providers. Existing providers must now use the NQA ITS when applying for a new service.

This change will reduce the administrative burden on applicants and streamline assessment.

There is also new e-learning on ACECQA’s website to help applicants understand their obligations before they apply.
