Elevating the profession

The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

Somewhat agree

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

Teachers need respect, I feel that all should have a master's and all should pass LANTITE before entering the degree.

In my degree we have so many students who cheat and plagiarise their way through the essays

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

I am working within schools but trying to finish my master's in teaching (secondary science and mathematics).

The final placement is too hard for me to complete financially. The placement before that was 5 weeks and that amounted to 7 without pay because of the intensive courses leading up to it. I now have used all my savings and have to defer my final placement by a year.

We need PSTs to be eligible for pay, even just at apprenticeship wages, for the final placement.

Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Somewhat disagree

It should be an apprenticeship not courses. It should have a much higher entry barrier

Maximising the time to teach

The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.
