In the proposed plan it is implied that there is better connection between various states/ overseas teachers to develop the movement between localities. This is far from what I found when I returned to Victoria. I was born in Victoria, qualified in Victoria and taught here for over 10 years before i moved to Northern Territory to teach there. As there is "mutual recognition" between these states you would think the process would be simple. It was Ok going to NT but far from it when I returned to Victoria. The hoops that VIT made me jump through were like I had never lived in Australia let alone taught in the state, several years earlier. A certified original Birth Certificate, a certified car license and other requirements were things which although they had been supplied originally were required for the process. I tried to explain this to VIT but they were not open to searching their files. It seemed like they were just trying to make the process more difficult than it needed to be. [REDACTED]

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Many University students are unaware of what being a teacher entails. There needs to be more education of potentail University students by "real teachers" to explain the finer details of what the job is actually like. More time needs to be placed in University Degrees to allow instruction on student behaviour management and many role plays involved rather than relying on teacher rounds to allow this practice to develop

Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
