Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.
Strongly agree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
If this goal is to be successful then education and training at all levels needs to be included. Not just schools but also post school institutions, including technical colleges and universities. Future federal government stimulus packages would be an excellent place to reinforce the value of this sector, rather than more stimulus for building and construction that promote low skilled jobs for high pay.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.
Strongly agree

Maximising the time to teach is possible if we consider how to improve legislation around the need to have teachers being responsible for student welfare at all times. There is potential to have other adults working in schools who can effectively supervise and support wellbeing without being a fully qualified teacher. This will save teachers a lot of time.
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs
How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
Strongly agree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
The process at the moment is way too time consuming. It is much easier and faster to either take on a leadership position or leave teaching for the same recognition of skills and increased pay.
