I like all of the proposed ideas, particularly showcasing to the wider community just how hard teachers work.

As much as I agree with elevating teachers to highly accomplished etc. I believe it is equally important to be able to "get rid of" teachers who are not doing the profession justice. There are bad teachers out there too!

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Bursaries - you are offering money which will always attract the wrong people. This is in no way a good idea. You also don't state who is getting the money? Is it going to the individuals or the universities?

Point 8 for attracting teachers to stay. This is so easy to solve... stop overloading teachers! Everything nowadays is about results and outcomes - its absolutely ridiculous. Adding to that the fact it's near impossible to hold students back, which adds to the difficult task of differentiation each year that child moves through for their teachers - I'm flabbergasted that this issue is never raised! And there is almost no room for teachers to teach a certain way to suit their students. Schools run so many maths and English programs with a "one size fits all" approach, teachers are left with no time to help those kids that need it. It's not impossible to do, but it's getting harder and harder - it's why I've decided to leave teaching after 8 years.

I like point 9, but please ensure they have good English skills. Some teachers that have come through, teaching in early childhood where we lay the foundations for learning, are incorrectly teaching sounds or missing sounds and/or words when they speak. I know some people will call me racist for this but I stand by my statement.

May I suggest that the final year of uni, pre service teachers should be working 2 or 3 days a week for the entire year in a school. The things I could and shoukd have learned could have happened if this was mandatory. There's nothing like on the job experience!

Point 23 - make sure this happens! You need to understand why teachers are leaving. How many times I've rolled my eyes when we are offered a pay rise or its stated on the news how we just want more money... that's not true!!!

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

Point 26 - I did the mandatory online cultural classes online and then did 3 years remote. Most if what I was told in this course was inaccurate fir where I worked. Every Aboriginal community is different, so this "one size fits all" course is baffling.
