Somewhat disagree

The teaching profession is always under load from new government initiatives. There has been a shift in power toward the students and their parents rather than the teacher. More needs to be done to protect teachers from ill made complaints and blatant lies to try and get a teacher sacked" There should be a legal avenue for when a student or a parent has been found to have "made up" allegations and the teacher renumerated as a fine from professional slander or the like.

Improving teacher supply

The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

Teaching needs to be made a profession that is protected from slander so people can make a career out of it.

There needs to be a national approach to managing teachers, for instance in Victoria teachers get 17.5% loading at xmas time Western Australia teachers do not. NSW teachers can salary package their home loans, Victoria and Western Australia can not. Victrian teachers can nominate one day per term for their own organisation western australia cannot.

Better understanding future teacher workforce needs

How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?

Moderately effective

The increasing need of teachers is the diagnosed and undiagnosed students with special needs. There needs to be more education assistance in the classroom and have plans to exit students that are disrupting other student learning through their escalating behaviours. There should be interventions for repeated behaviours so the offending student can access their education in another setting outside the classroom so all student can get the attention they require not just the students with special needs taking up all the teachers time, its just not fair.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

The current system for level 3 teachers in Western Australia is very difficult to attain and should be limited to teachers who already have their senior teacher status. Otherwise what happened was university student doing their practical assessments were using this as an application to their level 3 teacher status without ever teaching. Wrong concept to be pushing.
