Elevating the profession

The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.

Somewhat agree

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

[REDACTED]

Teacher salary is a good "second income". It does not promote the idea that teaching is a well paid profession for men that will enable them to support a family.
The salary needs to improve to the level that teachers enjoyed before, and up to, 1974 where teachers has the same pay as a state back bench MP.

Why have MPs pay risen to exceed that of teachers when the MP workload has not increased while that of teachers has?

Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Neither agree nor disagree

More teacher training in schools will help them decide if teaching is the job for them or not.

University courses do not prepare teachers. I feel I was not prepared for teaching at the completion of my university studies.

Maximising the time to teach

The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

Teachers have too many 'collaborative' 'team' 'year group' 'learning area' meetings.

Just let the teachers get on with teaching! If they want to collaborate with a colleague they can do so without it being mandated.

Better understanding future teacher workforce needs

How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?

Slightly effective

Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?

More and more students with a disability are entering mainstream schools. Teachers mindset needs to change PRIOR to entering the profession. too many teachers do not see it as their job to teach students with a disability.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession

The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

Strongly disagree

More salary please to help me feel that I am respected in my role and position.

We don't need more 'Lead teachers' we need more good teachers in general - ones who are prepared to work harder as they are given a salary that makes them think they want to work harder as they are respected in a respectable profession.
