Teachers in the first three years of their teaching career need structured mentoring and additional release time. Their mentors also need additional release time to facilitate quality mentoring

I agree strongly teachers are diverted from teaching by managing student behaviour and well being
We are also bombarded by a never ending supply of new fads and gimmicks that change on an annual basis consuming our precious pd time.

Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.

The hat and lead teacher has been a failure because there are very few positions for those qualifications which forces teachers to head into leadership to seek career advancement
