Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.
Somewhat disagree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
I disagree with the focus on STEM instead of STEAM, it is not inclusive, this approach does not value our culture/lifestyle or recognise the contribution of $14.7 billion to the Australian economy each year.
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.

This has merit however I question; do the awards promote teacher burnout or a sustainable career. These initiatives may promote more people taking up teaching, but what incentives other than awards are there to stay within the profession?

The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

More needs to be done to provide technical support or release to all teachers of practical curriculum areas e.g. arts, hospitality, manual arts. Managing materials, resources - storage and ordering, plant equipment, student work, clean up and safety is a significant workload.
