Elevating the profession
The actions proposed recognise the value teachers bring to students, communities and the economy.
Somewhat agree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
Pay needs to be a consideration to attract people to the profession and if it's not addressed at all, non of these measures will do!
Additional release from face to face teaching must be addressed as well to provide teachers the time they need to effectively complete their work.
School leaders are choosing not to rise to higher levels too as the current climate in schools does not provide a work life balance for anyone. While your measures are beginning to consider the day to day issues, they do not go far enough and huge changes need to be made for the lack of progression over the last 20- 30 years!
Improving teacher supply
The actions proposed will be effective in increasing the number of students entering ITE, number of students completing ITE and the number of teachers staying in and/or returning to the profession.
Somewhat disagree
Would you like to provide feedback about these actions?
Unless you increase pay and provide additional release, the measures will not go close to addressing the current situation
Strengthening Initial Teacher Education (ITE)
The actions proposed will ensure initial teacher education supports teacher supply and quality.

Initial teacher education has not prepared teachers effectively for the past 25 years! The gap between quality education and job readiness seems to become wider every year I see early career teachers enter the profession. Researched based approaches must become embedded into university courses and more targeted on the job training needs to occur. Prac students are often taught by teachers looking for additional money or underperforming staff members rather than the experts. This must change but again comes back to the workload as the experts already have additional responsibilities in their school.
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.
Somewhat disagree

Additional release for primary school teachers has not changed in decades and must be addressed. Without this your measures will do nothing!
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs
How effective are the proposed actions in better understanding future teacher workforce needs, including the number of teachers required?
Slightly effective

Increases in pay for all and then consider performance pay not the other way around
Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
Somewhat disagree

The measures do not go far enough
