Applications now open for the Australia-India Women Researchers’ Exchange Program

The Department of Education is funding ten fellowships under the Australia-India Women Researchers’ Exchange to strengthen research collaboration between Australia and India.

The Australia-India Women Researchers’ Exchange Program, administered by the Australia India Institute and funded by the Department of Education, offers women researchers from Australia and India an opportunity to engage in a short-term research exchange.

The program offers ten fellowships for early-career postdoctoral researchers in STEM disciplines. Each fellowship supports a 6 to 8 week research exchange between Australia and India.

The program aims to improve gender equity in STEM research and foster innovation through new opportunities for women researchers to grow their international network and undertake collaborative research.

Australia’s Education Strategy for India emphasises the importance of research collaboration, building people-to-people links and mobility to growing and strengthening our bilateral education relationship.

At the 2023 Australia India Education and Skills Council meeting, both Australian and Indian Education Ministers acknowledged the important role empowering women and girls plays in accelerating achievement of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
