The Australian Government is offering grants through the Central Australia Boarding Response Fund to increase access to quality education for students from remote Northern Territory communities.
This grant program is available for capital works projects in Central Australia to improve existing boarding facilities and build new ones, to create additional places for First Nations young people who need to study away from home. The $18 million fund was established to fund capital work projects over two years, with up to $10 million available per project. The grant application is open until 9 August, 2024. More details are available on the GrantConnect website.
The initiative follows a recent assessment of boarding capacity and options in Central Australia. Investing in boarding facilities will provide more places for First Nations young people who don’t have access to education closer to home and improve their experience of boarding away from their family and community.
