The Australian Government is investing $9.5 million to strengthen the capacity of teachers across Australia to teach mathematics and numeracy through freely available, nationally coordinated, high quality professional learning and resources.

The online teaching and learning resources for mathematics and numeracy initiative will deliver Mathematics Massive Open Online Courses (Mathematics Online Courses) providing professional development for teachers of foundation to Year 10 students, supported by face-to-face professional learning and a repository of teaching and learning resources through an online Mathematics Hub. The Hub will include numeracy check and formative assessment tools aligned with the Australian Curriculum to support school leaders and teachers, as well as resources for students and families.
The Mathematics Online Courses initiative will build on the successful Australian Government funded, combined delivery model currently in use for the Digital Technologies Massive Open Online Courses and Digital Technologies Hub to build improvements in Mathematics teacher capability across Australia.
The free, nationally available Mathematics Online Courses and Hub will provide centralised, contemporary resources and tools to support teachers to deliver high quality mathematics and numeracy education across Australia’s school sector.
The Australian Government has contracted Education Services Australia (ESA) to deliver the Mathematics Online Courses and online Hub. ESA have been selected to deliver the project through an open tender process released on AusTender.
ESA will partner with the Australian Government and the University of Adelaide to deliver the Mathematics Online Courses component of the initiative.
