The TPS acknowledges that The Malka Group (03397E), trading as TMG Training and Consulting, TMG College Australia, which closed and entered voluntary administration on 8 August 2022, has now reopened under new ownership.
The TPS is continuing to assist the remaining international students affected by the TMG closure in August 2022.
The Malka Group Closed
On Monday 8 August The Malka Group, trading as TMG Training and Consulting, TMG College Australia (03397E) closed and entered into voluntary administration. McGrathNicol has been appointed as administrator and has 14 days (i.e. until 22 August 2022) under 46D of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) to meet its obligations to place or refund affected international students.
The time has now lapsed and the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) has activated.
We have contacted you
On Monday 15 August 2022, we sent you an email with information regarding the closure of The Malka Group. International students enrolled at TMG College were emailed on Friday 26 August to advise that the TPS has activated and with details of upcoming student meetings.
On Friday 16 September we emailed you and advised you have until Tuesday 21 September close of business to apply for an extension if required, including why you require an extension and how long for, as the placement period ends on Wednesday 22 September. We will consider extensions and advise those who applied of the outcome. If you did not apply for an extension you will automatically move onto being considered for a refund. In either case, it is essential that you log into TPS Online and submit the required information and documentation.
Meetings for students, providers and agents
In-person student meetings were held on Tuesday 30 August 2022 at 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm at the State Library of Victoria, Village Roadshow Theatre.
