$270.8 million will be provided over two years for a package of measures to help schools keep students and staff safe, and get students’ education back on track after disruptions caused by COVID-19.
The Schools Upgrade Fund consists of three components:
- $18 million targeted round to support capital projects for government and non-government schools announced in the leadup to the 2022 election.
- $32 million open round to help create healthier school environments by purchasing air purifiers, upgrading ventilation systems, and building and maintaining safe learning spaces.
- $215 million to help public schools meet the cost of important infrastructure projects such as new classrooms, buildings, or other major refurbishments and upgrades.
Note: Total appropriation includes measure implementation costs.
