Thank you for the opportunity to make a submission and for the critically important work being done by the Expert Panel and the supporting officers.

The main focus of my contribution is on what needs to be done/could be done to enhance access to quality education for students and families in regional, rural and remote locations. Recently I was invited to write an article for the AEL journal on re-thinking the RRR workforce. I have attached a copy of the text I submitted which highlights 4 main fields of reform, most of which correspond quite closely with the issues, discussion and actions being considered by the Expert Panel, namely:

1. some considerations to understand the scale, scope, and diversity of RRR contexts and the nation’s valuing of them

2. initial teacher education and leadership preparation.

3. recruitment and staffing models

4. community capacity building for improved learning.
