Are you undertaking higher education in 2024? Did you know that the Department of Education supports a range of initiatives that can help students achieve their education goals?

Regional University Study Hubs

Regional University Study Hubs help students in regional and remote areas access higher education without having to leave their community.

A Regional University Study Hub is a facility regional students can use to study tertiary courses locally delivered by distance from any Australian institution. Hubs provide student support services and campus-style facilities such as study spaces, computer facilities and internet access for students who study online.

There are 32 study hubs in operation in all states and the Northern Territory. To find out if there is one near you, visit Regional University Study Hubs.

Tertiary Access Payment

If you’re thinking about relocating from a regional area for study in 2024, you might be eligible to receive the Tertiary Access Payment.

A payment of either $3,000 or $5,000 is available for 2023 school-leavers from regional or remote areas who relocate for full-time study (Certificate IV and above) at an education provider located at least 90 minutes by public transport from their family home. Applications open 1 January 2024.

To apply for the payment, visit Services Australia.

Destination Australia

The Destination Australia program provides funding to select tertiary education providers to offer scholarships to domestic and international students to study and live in regional Australia.

Scholarship funding of up to $15,000 is available per student, per year. Eligible students apply for scholarships directly with approved education providers. A list of approved providers for 2024 is available at Destination Australia Program.
