In regards to student placements - It is important that students are placed with competent teachers. Too often, I have witnessed students being placed with inexperienced or incompetent teachers. This has came about because a lot of teachers don't want to take on the extra responsibility/time of guiding a student through their placement. Significant time is required to effectively provide feedback and guidance to a student on placement. As staff are not given release or time to provide this feedback it falls back on the teacher to do it in their own time at the expense of other tasks.
Maximising the time to teach
The actions proposed will improve retention and free up teachers to focus on teaching and collaboration.

The idea of face-to-face time being reduced would be greatly welcomed.
A major contributor to work related stress and time being wasted is the expectations around recording/documenting all the adjustments that teachers make in their classroom. I understand it is to justify the funding a school may receive, however, this time could be better used planning lessons.
Better understanding future teacher workforce needs

Moderately effective

There are numerous reasons teachers are leaving the profession:
- work load
- stress (related to work load, student abuse/disrespect, parent abuse, disrespect)
- change in parent culture (Parents are now quick to blame the school/teacher instead of supporting the school)
Better career pathways to support and retain teachers in the profession
The proposed actions will improve career pathways, including through streamlining the process for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher (HALT) accreditation, and providing better professional support for teachers to retain them in the profession.
