Are you thinking about undertaking higher education study? Do you need financial assistance to make your dream a reality?

The Australian Government’s new look StudyAssist website makes it easier for current and prospective students to find out about government study loans and other support for higher education.

The website has helpful information, tools, tips and videos to help students with their study journey, including:

  • The types of loans available for students,
  • how to check their eligibility for loans through a new tool
  • how to apply for a loan
  • what the application process involves
  • how and when to repay their  loan
  • their obligations and rights.

Students can apply for a study loan if they plan on enrolling in study, like a degree. These loans are called Higher Education Loan Program loans or HELP loans. Students can also apply for a government subsidised place known as a Commonwealth supported place (CSP).The ‘Navigation of the StudyAssist website’ video is a great place to start. It shows students how to navigate through the site to find the information that’s right for them.

The ‘Starting Study: the basics’ page provides the information students need to know about higher education study in Australia. This includes important study dates, how to compare courses and providers who offer government assistance to study.

There are also resources available for higher education providers including updates about the administration of the HELP, higher education policy, legislative amendments, funding, and programs.
