The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has launched this year’s Tax, Super + You competition.

Students in years 7 – 12 are encouraged to enter, this could be their chance to shine! The competition is a great way for students to unleash their creativity and showcase their tax and super knowledge! Students can enter individually or as a group.

There are two age group categories, with separate topics and prizes for each.

  • Junior (years 7–9) - Explain how, when and why Australians pay tax.
  • Senior (years 10–12) - Explain Australia’s superannuation system and the impact on the community if we didn’t have one.

The ATO has free high-quality teacher-developed resources that can be used as a starting point for students to create their entries. These resources align to the Australian Curriculum v9.0.

Let’s get the ball rolling and spark those imaginations to explore the essential life topics of tax and super. The sky’s the limit with what students can create and achieve, they can write it, make it or film it.

Don’t miss out – entries must be submitted by 5.00pm AEST on Friday 27th September 2024. Winners will be announced in November 2024.

To access the free resources and to find out more about the competition go to the Competition teacher's kit.
