New resources have been released to support teachers in the classroom. The free evidence-based resources were developed by the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) in consultation with teachers and were funded by the Australian Government under the Engaged Classrooms Through Effective Classroom Management program.

One in three teachers report losing teaching time due to disruptive behaviour, significantly impacting students’ ability to learn. Supporting teachers to minimise classroom disruption can result in a boost to student learning and teacher retention.

The resources aim to assist teachers and school leaders with the important work they do in making classrooms welcoming, safe and productive places for students to learn. The content is for teachers starting out, teachers working in new environments, or experienced teachers who want to refine or refresh their practices.

Teachers can find out more and access the resources on the department’s Engaged Classrooms webpage.
