The Suburban University Study Hubs consultation process is now open. The department is seeking your views to help inform the design and implementation of the program.

On 18 July 2023, the Hon Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education, announced $66.9 million to double the number of University Study Hubs across Australia, including expanding the concept to our major cities for the first time. This will see up to 14 new Suburban University Study Hubs established as part of the Government’s response to the priority actions listed in the Australian Universities Accord Interim Report.

The Suburban University Study Hubs will build on the learnings of the successful Regional University Study Hubs program, adapted for a metropolitan setting. They will provide convenient support for higher education and Vocational Education and Training (VET) students where this is locally relevant.

The program aims to improve and support diversity, equity of access and participation. It will improve outcomes for students from outer suburban areas where university attainment is low and there is limited access to a university campus.

Submissions in response to the consultation paper are due by 11:59pm (AEDT) 2 October 2023. To share your views, visit the Suburban University Study Hubs webpage.
