The Civics and Citizenship Education Hub (CCE Hub), a platform that connects teachers with resources, events and programs to support civics and citizenship education in schools has been launched.

The CCE Hub has resources to help students in Years 3–10 to develop an understanding of Australia's system of government and democratic values under the themes of:

  • Democratic history
  • Government and democracy
  • Laws and citizens
  • Citizenship, diversity and identity.

The CCE Hub is an online repository of more than 200 resources, and includes a short, animated video on civics and citizenship education and why it matters. Teachers can browse and filter resources based on their year level and themes. They can also access a calendar of civics and citizenship events for schools and see what events are coming up such as visits to the Australian Parliament House, conferences, professional learning and more.

Minister for Education, the Hon Jason Clare MP said:

“It’s really important that Australian kids gain a strong understanding of how our system of government and legal system works.

“A quality civics and citizenship education will ensure they become active and informed citizens.

“These resources will save teachers time and give them fresh and engaging ways to spark their students’ interest in our democracy.”

The CCE Hub has been developed by Education Services Australia for the Australian Government Department of Education and will be updated regularly.
