Teachers can make a real difference to the lives of young people and their work has a lasting impact beyond the classroom. World Teachers’ Day is a great time to recognise the hard work and dedication of teachers. Celebrating all the amazing teachers across Australia not only shows appreciation but also helps foster a supportive environment for teachers.
You can get involved and show your support and appreciation for teachers by joining the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership’s (AITSL) “Hats off to Teachers” campaign. They encourage you to take a selfie wearing your favourite hat, beanie, or beret to celebrate teachers, and explain what teachers mean to you. Post your selfie on social media and tell us what teachers mean to you, using #WorldTeachersDay and tagging @aitsl.
You can also try AITSL’s online photobooth to create a fun “hats off” GIF.
Here are some other ways you can celebrate:
• Use AITSL’s Celebration kit which includes posters and templates
• Organise a morning tea to thank teachers
• Get creative by making art, gifts, or cards with your students.
