World Teachers’ Day in Australia is today! People are encouraged to come together to celebrate teachers and the amazing work they do each day to give students the best future possible.
On World Teachers’ Day, the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) is asking students, families and the wider community to get involved by taking their hats off to teachers. Everyone can take part to show their support and appreciation for teachers and the important role they play in the lives of children and young people.
How to get involved
AITSL is asking people to share a “hats off” selfie to celebrate teachers, and explain what teachers mean to them. Grab your hat, beret, beanie, bucket, bowler and create a post on social media, using #WorldTeachersDay and @aitsl
You can also use AITSL’s online photobooth on the day so you can virtually try on a range of “designer” hats. You can take two photos using their photobooth to make your very own “hats off” gif.
Ways to celebrate
AITSL have a range of ideas and resources to help you celebrate:
- Use the Celebration Kit which includes social media images, posters, colouring templates, and more
- Connect with your parent committee to host a morning tea for teachers
- Create thank you gifts or cards
- Involve children in making art
- Be creative – share from the heart!
