Teachers and childcare educators working in very remote areas can apply to reduce their HELP debt.

Do you work as a teacher in a very remote area? Teachers, including early childhood teachers, are encouraged to apply for a reduction in their Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt.

If you complete four years full-time teaching from 2019, or the pro-rated part-time equivalent in a six-year period, in a very remote area of Australia you may be eligible.

This initiative is one component of the Australian Government’s wider policy of Closing the Gap and improving educational outcomes for students in remote and very remote Australia.

If you are teaching, or considering teaching, in a very remote location of Australia, you can find more information and how to apply on the Reduction of HELP debts for teachers in very remote areas page.
