Do you know a young person who is passionate about ensuring their views are considered by government? They might be interested in the opportunity to be part of the Australian Government's 2025 Youth Advisory Groups!
Youth Advisory Groups work with the Australian Government on the development of policies or programs that matter to young people.
Applications are open for people aged 16 to 24. Each advisory group will consist of up to 8 people and include:
- Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Home Affairs
- Climate Change and Water Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
- Creative Industries Youth Advisory Group working with the Office for the Arts
- First Nations Youth Advisory Group working with the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations
- Prevention of Gender-Based Violence Youth Advisory Group working with the Department of Social Services.
Noah from New South Wales, who finishes his term on the First Nations Education Youth Advisory Group this year, was given the opportunity to provide input into priority areas related to school engagement, including the role of teachers and targeted program support.
Noah’s passion is to facilitate enhanced learning about Aboriginal culture, creating a level of awareness to help close the gap and ensure youth voices are heard.
The Office for Youth is looking for a diverse group of enthusiastic young people from across the country. No experience is necessary before applying.
Applications are open from 28 October to 17 November 2024. The first meeting will take place in Canberra in early 2025.
