Thirty-six research projects have been awarded funding under the final tranche of Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA) Seed Grants.

More than $11 million will support commercialisation projects in 3 Australian Government identified priority areas for the economy (outlined in the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (Priority Areas) Declaration 2023):

  • 4 projects in transport
  • 13 projects in defence capability
  • 19 projects in enabling capabilities (such as advance manufacturing, quantum, robotics and artificial intelligence).

The AEA Seed program had now invested more than $26 million in nearly 100 research projects across the country.

The Australian Government continues to invest in projects that drive business innovation and solve challenges to the benefit of all Australians.

This final tranche of funding represents the final 3 priority areas, with special emphasis on projects that focus on advanced and additive manufacturing technologies.

These focus areas are designed to drive investment in key sectors, focusing on value adding and capability development to leverage Australia’s natural and competitive strengths.

AEA Seed was a pilot program for stage one proof-of-scale grants known as AEA Ignite and forms part of the Australian Government’s $1.6 billion investment in AEA.

AEA supports the Australian Government’s Future Made in Australia policy and enables Australia’s leading entrepreneurial researchers to transform world-class research into the new industries, services and jobs of tomorrow.
