In 2025, recurrent funding for schools is estimated to total $31.1 billion. This includes $12.0 billion to government schools, $10.4 billion to Catholic schools and $8.7 billion to independent schools.

The National Report on Schooling in Australia is the record of progress towards the goals and commitment in the Education Declaration. It is published by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority on behalf of education ministers. The report includes information on:
- School resourcing
- School structures, and school, teacher and student numbers
- Major programs and initiatives to support students and schools achieve educational goals and support the commitment to action
- Student outcomes (Key Performance Measures), as prescribed in the Measurement Framework for Schooling in Australia.
