Reports on financial assistance for schools sector

The Australian Government has a role in education funding and national policy. While the Australian Government does not operate any schools or employ any teachers, funding responsibility is shared between the Australian Government and state and territory governments. Financial assistance to the schools sector is provided under the Australian Education Act 2013 and previously under the former Schools Assistance Act 2008.

On this page:

Section 127 of the Australian Education Act 2013 requires the Minister for Education to table a report in Parliament each year on any financial assistance paid to an approved authority in the previous year.

The latest report provides information on financial assistance paid to approved authorities for the school year 2023.

Section 127 payment reports under the Australian Education Act 2013

Previous annual reports on financial assistance to schools under the former Schools Assistance Act 2008 are provided below.
