What is the IPS
The Information Publication Scheme (IPS) is established under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (FOI Act). Under the IPS, agencies are required to:
- publish an Agency IPS Plan
- publish specific categories of information (set out below)
- consider proactively publishing other government information.

The department’s IPS Plan sets out how the department meets its IPS obligations.

The FOI disclosure log lists information that we have released in response to an FOI access request, subject to certain exceptions.

Operational information is information we hold to assist us to perform or exercise our functions or powers in making decisions or recommendations affecting members of the public. This includes our plans, policies and guidelines relating to those decisions and recommendations.

Our priorities
We publish the details of our current and past corporate plans and annual reports.
Our finances
We publish information about our finances, including information relating to our budget, pay and grading structures in the agency, tendering and contracts.

Our lists and datasets
We publish information about our lists and datasets including:

- Australian Government funding of schools data

- Other datasets are available at data.gov.au.
Our submissions
We often make submissions on education issues raised by inquiries of the Senate Standing Committees on Education and Employment which can be found on the inquiries website.
