Now in its 20th year, Day for Daniel is Australia’s largest child safety education and awareness day. On 25 October, Day for Daniel urges Australians to wear red, educate and donate at schools.
Parents, carers, and educators can start a conversation with children and young people about personal safety, how to identify unsafe situations and what steps to take.
The Daniel Morcombe Foundation (DMF) provides personal child safety education to children and young people to prevent abuse and promote lifelong health and wellbeing. DMF supports educators, parents and carers through the provision of resources and education and directly supports young victims of crime.
There are plenty of ways you can get involved to remember Daniel and support child safety education and awareness.
How to get involved:
- Wear red: save the date and encourage friends, colleagues, students, families and the wider community to wear red to remember Daniel on Friday 25 October. Red is the colour that represents the DMF.
- Decorate your school or business in red or have a ‘red themed’ morning tea. Organisations can also register their events on the Day for Daniel website.
- Educate: access the ‘Keeping Kids Safe’ resources which include videos, lesson plans and activities for students from prep to senior years. The resources have been created in memory of Daniel to help keep children and young people safe.
- Donate: you can also register and donate through the Day for Daniel website. All funds raised help DFM develop their free education initiatives and support young victims of crime.
