Have your say on the digital research infrastructure needed to deliver Australia's research vision.
The department has opened a survey complementary to the National Digital Research Infrastructure Strategy released in July 2024. The Strategy aims to ensure Australian researchers have access to the latest infrastructure, to turn their research into products and services to benefit all Australians.
The survey findings will support the development of the National Digital Research Infrastructure Investment Plan (NDRI IP), funded by the $4 billion National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). NCRIS provides Australian researchers with access to the tools, equipment, data and services they need for world-class research.
With the ever-increasing digitalisation of Australia’s research sector, NDRI is expected to play a critical role in supporting Australian researchers across all disciplines.
A Working Group has been established to support development of the NDRI IP. The group is comprised of people with field-specific expertise drawn directly from Australia’s research sector, including members from the National Research Infrastructure Advisory Group.
The survey includes questions from each of the following targeted discussions hosted by the Working Group.
- Data
- NDRI for humanities, social sciences, and galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM)
- Compute and artificial intelligence
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples NDRI
- NDRI skills
- Software
- Trust and identity, and cybersecurity.
Collaboration and working with stakeholders are core parts of the NCRIS program and will be a critical part of developing the NDRI IP, with both targeted and open consultations currently underway. Potential NDRI providers, identified through the consultation, will then be invited to suggest how they could provide research infrastructure that would advance the objectives of the NDRI Strategy.
Consultation on a draft NDRI IP will take place prior to the release of the final NDRI IP.
Responses to the survey close on 24 October 2024 at 5:00pm, AEDT. To complete the survey, visit National Digital Research Infrastructure.
